EXCEL BY 5 is an innovative early childhood certification process that focuses on promoting positive development among a community’s young children. The vision of Excel by 5 is to support families with children ages 0-5 by encouraging residents, community agencies, businesses, schools, and other sectors to come together and provide families with access to community resources. Both Picayune School District and Pearl River County School District serves as our support partners! We all want young children in Pearl River County to be happy, healthy, and equipped with the skills that they need to succeed.
The SPRC Excel By 5 Coalition is made up of members from communities in Pearl River County, MS. This coalition includes parents, grandparents, health care providers, early educators, business leaders, and civic leaders, as well as representatives from school districts, government agencies, and faith -based groups. Our main goal is to provide access to family / community resources, as well as identify the education and health needs for families with children from birth to age five in the community. We have accepted the challenge to become a certified EXCEL BY 5 “child friendly” community. We strive to ensure that our youngest residents are safe, healthy, and ready to learn!
